Blogging Events Calendar 2013

I started this page to keep track of Blogging Events 2013 in which I want to participate. There are so many great free resources, opportunities to meet other bloggers and help one another accomplish similar goals. Please be sure to share your favorite event with me and sign up for the ones below!

January 2013

January Winter’s Respite Read-a-thon by Michelle of The Seasons of Reading and The True Book Addict.

 

January 25-28, 2013: Biannual Blogathon Bash hosted by Kathleen Garber.

* Purpose: Spend as much time as you can various aspects of your blog.  “You know all those items on your Blogging To Do list?     Those things you’ve been meaning to get to but haven’t had a chance? Now’s your chance to get a large amount of them done!”

* Schedule of Events: Events include 17 mini-challenges, chances to win prizes and 2 Twitter parties.

* My thoughts: This blogathon was an invaluable free resource. Kathleen and the other bloggers I met were very helpful. I learned something from each of the mini-challenges I completed and enjoyed connecting with other bloggers during twitter chats. As long as it works with my schedule, I will continue to participate in this blogathon. Read more about my Blogathon goals and accomplishments here. The participants enjoyed the event so much that Kathleen continues to have monthly Twitter chats on various blogging topics (#blogathon2).

February 2013

February 2-3, 2013: Mini-Bloggiesta hosted by It’s All About Books and There’s a Book.

* Purpose: a book “blogging marathon revolving around ticking off those items on your to-do list and improving your blog while in the good company of other awesome bloggers doing the same thing.”

* Schedule of Events: Events include 6 mini-challenges and a Twitter party.

* My thoughts: Another fantastic free resource catered to book bloggers.  Looking forward to other mini and full Bloggiestas. Read more about my goals and accomplishments here

February 7 – 14, 2013: Wicked Valentine Read-a-Thon hosted by My Shelf Confessions.

* Purpose: Read as much as you can during the week.

* Schedule of Events:Events includes daily book-related challenges, chances to win prizes and a Twitter party.

* My thoughts: This was my first read-a-thon and a lot of fun. I enjoyed the Twitter chat and will sign up for future read-a-thons to catch up on my reading list! Read more about my goals and accomplishments here.

* Next event: June 7-14, 2013

 

February 23, 2013: Monster Review-a-Thon hosted by The Book Monsters.

* Purpose: Catch up on writing book reviews

* Schedule of Events: Monster Review-a-thon includes a Twitter Party.

* My thoughts: This is perfect to do right after a read-a-thon so I had plenty to catch up on! Read more about my goals and accomplishments here.

* Next Event: April 2013?

 

February 23, 2013: Book Blogger Love-a-Thon hosted by Alexa Loves Books

* Purpose: Comment, support and interact with other book bloggers..”an entire day dedicated to spreading the love among blogs in the book blogging community.”

* Schedule of Events: Events include interview swaps, mini-challenges and giveaways.

* My thoughts: I love visiting new book bloggers, I hope to participate next year.

 

March 2013

March 9-16, 2013 Fairy Tales Read-a-thon hosted by Debz Bookshelf

March 15-18, 2013 Take Control of your TBR Read-a-thon hosted by Kimba at the Caffeinated Book Reviewer

 

March 22-24, 2013 Full Bloggiesta hosted by It’s All About Books and There’s a Book.

* Purpose: a book “blogging marathon revolving around ticking off those items on your to-do list and improving your blog while in the good company of other awesome bloggers doing the same thing.”

* Schedule of Events: Starting Line Sign up and Schedule and mini-challenges

* My thoughts: Another great event, read my goals and accomplishments here.

March 23, 2013 Itty Bitty Blogathon hosted by Biannual Blogathon Bash

* Info: Complete your own to-do list or complete the task list to earn as many points as you can to win the $100 Amazon gift card prize

* Schedule of Events: Events include 2 twitter chats, a whole host of tasks to complete and prizes.

* My involvement: I signed up and while I kept track of some of my tasks, I was not feeling well Sunday and couldn’t post my update. Here are my goals anyway and most of the work for Bloggiesta the same weekend, I think would count for the Blogathon as well.

 

March 29-April 2, 2013 Monster Read-a-thon hosted by The Book Monsters

 

April 2013

April 1-7, 2013 First Book Blogger Twitter Conference hosted by Parajunkee.

* Purpose: “Connect. Learn. Network. Chat books, blogging, and everything that goes along with book blogging.”

* Schedule of Events: Events include 2 Twitter panel discussions per day, book blogger awards and daily giveaways.

* My thoughts: I love that this conference is online and free! Some great bloggers have been nominated. I look forward to signing up. They are still looking for panel moderators if you are interested. Click on the Events link to go to Parajunkee’s site.

 

April 5-6, 2013 Monster Review-a-thon hosted by The Book Monsters

* Catch up on writing those book reviews from the read-a-thons!

 

April 22-28, 2013 Spring into Horror Read-a-thon by Michelle of The Seasons of Reading and The True Book Addict.

* Purpose: “a week of relaxed reading during which we can personally challenge ourselves and whittle away those ever looming TBR piles/shelves/libraries.”  Read one horror and the rest of your reading can be anything.

* Schedule of Events: Check back for schedule of events. Usually includes Twitter chats.

* My thoughts: I started to read Anne Rice’s Interview with the Vampire which I loved.  I didn’t get read as much as I hoped and will do better next time.

* Next events: High Summer Read-a-thon 3rd week in July, FrightFall Read-a-thon 1st week in October, Winter’s Respite Read-a-thon 4th week in January.

 

April 24, 2013: Weekday Read-a-thon by The Book Wheel Blog and Love at First Book

* Info: Visit the Book Wheel Blog or Love at First Book.

* My thoughts: I’ll be signing up even if it’s just crawling into bed earlier and reading later into the night.

 

April 27, 2013: Dewey’s 24 Hour Read-a-thon

* Info: Visit Dewey’s Readathon site to sign up

* My thoughts: It was fun cheerleading in this one! Next time I hope to devote more time to actual reading.

 

May 2013

May 1-14, 2013 Sit Down and Write hosted by Michelle of Stories Inside, the True Book Addict, Seasons Reading and the Nonfiction Adventure!
* Write as much as you can, great chance to catch up on writing blog posts or any other writing you need to do.

 

May 13-19, 2013 Bout of Books Read-a-thon hosted by Amanda from On a Book Bender and Kelly from Paranormal Book Reviews

* Purpose: “If you’re a book blogger who can’t attend Book Expo America and the Book Blogger Convention in New York this May, you don’t have to miss all the fun – this virtual convention is the place to be!”

* Click here for the agenda. Agenda includes discussion topic posts if you’d like to get ahead and write up some drafts.

* My involvement: I’ve signed up to cheerlead and visit various blogs as well as participate as much as I can.

 

June 2013

June 1-July 14, 2013 The Beats of Summer Reading Event hosted by Roof Beam Reader

“For this event, the goal is to read as many pieces of “Beat Generation” literature as you want to, from June 1st through July 14th. Audiobooks, fiction, poetry, and non-fiction all count, as long as the writer is considered to be a part of the Beat Generation. Memoirs, biographies, essays, theory/criticism or other works of non-fiction written about The Beats are also acceptable!”

Adam provides a list of suggested authors, works and writers/biographies prominent or celebrating the 1950’s or “Beat Generation.” What an interesting theme for a read-a-thon!
